Central is a United Methodist Church serving the communities of Skokie, Morton Grove, Niles, and Lincolnwood, Illinois. Our worship style is blended. The congregation is multi-cultural. Sunday School is held for children, youth and adults. A youth group for grades 6-12 meets regularly. Other programs include United Methodist Women, a monthly Men's Breakfast, Happy Active Retired Persons, Disciple Bible Study, Care Guild, Choir and Handchimes.

Central members and friends contribute funds to many mission projects throughout the world (see the Missions page), volunteer services to a northside Chicago soup kitchen and the Chicago Food Depository, and food to the Niles Township Food Pantry and diapers to Child Serv. We have participated in the Chicago Crop Walk, and the Skokie 4th of July parade.

Our church building is handicapped accessible and air conditioned. We have a fully staffed nursery for infants and young children. Young children attend the beginning of the worship service and participate in a Children's sermon.

Central United Methodist Church was first started in 1923 in the Bronx building in Skokie. In 1930 the church moved to the Log Cabin . 

The Log Cabin, on Concord Lane, was used for services and Sunday School until 1953. the complete history of the Log Cabin is available here.

In 1969 the Evangelical United Brethren Church and the Methodist Church joined to become the United Methodist Church.  Central officially became Central United Methodist Church.

In 1969 the north and south Stained glass windows were dedicated.  Each window shows a portion of Jesus's life with application for today.  In 1976 the Resurrection Window was dedicated on the west wall.

In 1998 ground was broken to remodel the sanctuary building and make it accessible. Easter, 2000, we moved into a spectacular new building with an elevator, new organ and updated sound system.  The sanctuary and fellowship hall are now accessible to all.

In the spring of 2009 the congregation voted to restore the Log Cabin and make it accessible. Plans are going ahead with that project at this time.

Many faces - Common faith  is the motto of Central United Methodist Church.  We celebrate the diversity within our congregation through worship, music, and social events.

The 75th anniversary of Central United Methodist Church was celebrated in 2005.
