Rev. David Haley, Pastor

Pastor David Haley

Pastor David joined CUMC in September of 2007.

A native Kentuckian, he has served five churches in his almost forty year ministry, beginning with Trinity UMC in Memphis, Tennessee (1976-1979), before transferring to Northern Illinois in 1979, where he served Hermosa-Salem (1979-1981), Berry Memorial (1981-1990), and West Chicago (1990-2007).

He has a B.S. from Murray State University (Murray, KY), an M.Div. from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School (Deerfield, IL), and an M.A. from the University of Chicago.

In addition to ordained ministry, he has mown grass, packed ice, carried furniture, worked in an emergency room and a tennis club, served as a hospital chaplain and a fire and police chaplain, and for 17 years as a firefighter/paramedic in West Chicago.

Central's Next Pastor, Rev. Timothy Biel, Jr.

Rev. Timothy Biel, Jr.

Rev. Biel has served in the Northern Illinois Conference since July 2001. His most recent appointment has been in Homewood, Illinois. He earned degrees from Northwestern University, Garret E.T.S. and North Central College.

He and his spouse, Victoria, with their two sons, Oliver and Timothy enjoy organic-vegan gardening and cooking, sports, reading and spending time outdoors.

Rev. Biel will begin as Central's pastor July 15, 2018.

Millete Silverio, Chancel Choir Director/Organist/Pianist

What a treasured talent we have in Millete! Having joined the CUMC staff in 1997, Millete still impresses the congregation, often moving us to tears, with her beautiful playing. She also accompanies the Chancel and Children’s Choirs as well as soloists and instrumentalists. Working with the Music Team and guest artists, Millete works hard to bring impactful, lively, unique musical arrangements to CUMC.

Millete began playing piano at the age of three with her mother as her first teacher and continued through college. In sixth grade she was one of the soloists that performed with the UP Symphony Orchestra. In college she joined the University of the Philippines Concert Chorus and the world renowned Philippine Madrigal Singers performing for royalty and heads of states and outreach programs. She had the privilege of traveling with them in Asia and on a six-month tour of Europe concertizing and joining choral competitions bringing home top awards.

In the Philippines, she was an accompanist for soloists, instrumentalist and choirs. She was resident pianist for the Repertory Philippines, the premier theater company. Last but not least, she was a keyboardist for a famous rock band in the Philippines.

Doris Bloom, Church Administrator

Doris Bloom

Doris joined the office staff in September of 2011 as a job sharing partner. As a member of CUMC since 1975, Doris has volunteered for many years helping in the church office with finances and the first website. Her history with the church makes her a vital part of the daily office activities.

She grew up in Minnesota graduating from the University of Minnesota with a B.S. in education. Her early career was as an elementary school teacher, and then joined North Central Airlines as a stewardess until the birth of her son, David. Her husband of 47 years passed away in 2009.

She supports the arts community as member of the Chicago Botanic Garden and the Kohl Children's Museum, and a subscriber of the Lyric Opera of Chicago, Chicago Symphony, Ars Viva, and Northlight Theater.

Pam Castaneda, Church Administrator

Pam Castaneda

Pam joined the office staff in 2013 as a job sharing position. She joined Central, December, 1987. She has been a member of the Trustees and active in UMW. She has also organized programs of various speakers during the 80's.

Pam was in the Women's Royal Air Force in England for 5 years. While posted in Fountinbleau, France, she met her husband, Raul.

She worked in various law offices in Chicag as an administration assistant.
She has ben married for 44 years and has one son and one grandson.

Ellen Mittman, Nursery Attendant

Ellen Mittman

Ellen has been the nursery attendant since 2001.

She has two certificates in early childhood education--one in infant care and one in 3 to 5-year-old care. She graduated from New Trier High School.

She loves working with children.
